This section of CallingID Support explains the many options available to suit
CallingID to your needs. To access these options, press the CallingID Menu
button on your toolbar and choose 'Options...'.
Data protection is a CallingID feature that protects you from
sending your personal information to risky sites. When your information might
be sent to a suspicious site, you get an alert.
This alert lets you decide between 3 options:
If you reply "Yes" or "No" without checking "I am not sure", next time you try
to send information to the same site, your reply will be automatically used. If
you answered "No" the information you try to send will automatically be
blocked. If you replied "Yes" the information will automatically be sent.
What does 'Only protect me from
non-verified sites' mean?
When this option is selected, any site that CallingID
classifies as "Verified" (The site ownership has been identified, the owner of
the site has been identified as actively conducting business, the site and its
owner are located in countries that are not likely suspected and the site is
not on a scamming or phishing blacklist) will be considered safe to send data
to. When this option is not selected, sending data to a verified site will
prompt you to allow or ban sending data to that site.
What does 'Protect my password/personal
data/all my data' mean?
You can choose between 3 levels of data protection:
What is the 'Define Personal Information'
button for?
Personal Information is any word or phrase you want CallingID
to keep private. Any phrase listed in the Define Personal Information dialog
will be considered private and CallingID will warn you when you try to submit
that phrase to an untrustworthy site.
Keywords can be your address; bank account details; social security number;
maiden name; phone numbers; etc. Credit card numbers need not be defined since
CallingID detects them automatically.
You can also list parts of words and even add a description of the data to help
you remember what it means.
You may also add or remove sites that are approved to receive your keywords in
the lower list.
Use the check box at the bottom of the window ('Sites approved to receive
password are automatically approved to receive personal information') to
signify there is no need to approve a site twice. If the option is not selected
you will be prompted to approve a site separately for receiving passwords and
for receiving other personal information.
What does the 'Sites approved to
receive password are automatically approved to receive personal information'
option for?
Checking this option will make sure that any site you've
approved to receive your password will also be allowed to receive your personal
information, thus preventing you from having to approve them seperatly.
What is the 'Enable warning sounds' option
for?
Checking this option will cause a warning beep to sound when
you attempt to send protected information to unapproved sites or when you visit
a High Risk site
What are the 'Suspected Countries'
settings for?
It is considered risky to send information to sites located in
specific countries or sites owned by companies or individuals located in
specific countries.
CallingID protects you from sending information to sites located in countries
considered suspect and from browsing sites whose owners are located in
suspected countries.
You can move any country from the 'Trusted Countries' list (on
the left) to the 'Suspected Countries' list (on the right), buy selecting it
and clicking the appropriate arrow button. You can select multiple countries by
holding the Shift or Control keys.
What does the 'Sites blocked from
receiving information' dialog mean?
This dialog allows you to prevent certain sites from receiving
your information.
If you try to fill out a form on a site listed in this list you will be alerted
by CallingID. Also, if you try filling out a form on a site that isn't listed,
but that form will be sent to a site listed, you will be alerted.
What does 'Sites approved to receive
information' mean?
If you've selected 'Protect all my data' from the Basic Options
tab, the 'Sites approved to receive information' dialog button will appear.
This dialog allows you to list sites which are allowed to receive information
from you (passwords, personal information, general data). When you try to fill
out a form in a site that is not listed, an alert will appear.
What does 'Site approved to receive
passwords' mean?
If you've selected 'Protect my passwords' or selected 'Protect
my personal information' but not checked 'Sites approved to receive password
are automatically approved to receive personal information' in the Basic
Options tab, you can view and change the list of sites you have approved for
receiving passwords. You may remove sites from the list by selecting them and
then pressing the Remove button.
When you try to fill out a password field in a site that isn't listed you will
be alerted.

"Protect all my data" in the Basic Options tab, you can view and change the
list of sites you have approved to receiving personal information.

What does the 'Show me all the sites that can
receive information from a page I visit' checkbox do?
Many sites contain forms that send information to several
locations, databases or sites. This option will allow you to view which sites
will receive the information you are sending.
When this option is selected, the sites' information includes an indicator on
the right in the CallingID toolbar. When you select the indicator all the sites
that might receive data you enter are listed.
If you choose a site from the list, you can view its details. Also the cursor
will be positioned in an input field that sends data to the selected site.
Please note: Selecting this option may slow the assessment time for users with
slower Internet connections.
