The bad guys are experts at getting your information or getting you to send your password and credit card information to them. The identity theft can begin with an innocent newsletter sign-up scam to get your email and password. If you didn't provide them a usable password to your other accounts, they send you targeted emails soliciting information, verification requests, or urgent alerts from (what appears to be) your bank, that your account or credit card has been hacked or overdrawn. It all starts by you providing information to some site you don't know.

How does CallingID LinkAdvisor 2.0 work? CallingID LinkAdvisor 2.0 is a Software as a Service (SaaS) application with sophisticated access verification logic in both your computer and in the cloud to make sure that you have real-time site identification and can be sure that you are accessing the site you intend to.
Using a SaaS approach ensures that you have real-time protection rather than being exposed during the periodic update cycle of other approaches while significantly reducing the memory and disk footprint and CPU resources needed on your PC. CallingID LinkAdvisor 2.0 uses the CallingID evaluation engine and database engine resources in our data centers to identify, rate and verify the site(s) before you visit it in real-time. This ensures that you have the most current information about the sites, including those that just came up today or a minute ago.
CallingID LinkAdvisor 2.0 invokes the local and cloud-based evaluation and verification tests and leverages multiple international information databases to give you the most informed and accurate assessment of the sites available. Since automated engines, no matter how sophisticated, cannot provide the verification of every site in real time, we have a highly skilled risk assessment team to deal with the exceptions. It is important that the user always be provided the most current information available. You will never get an "unknown." CallingID LinkAdvisor 2.0 always identifies the site in real-time.
Remember, CallingID does much more than checking if a target site is free of malware. It provides you confirmation of ownership and contact information, as well as ratings regarding business reputation.
What if I don't see CallingID site information when I mouse-over a link? CallingID LinkAdvisor 2.0 always provides site information or a warning for links. If you don't see one it means that this is not really a link. Be very careful before clicking.
Does LinkAdvisor 2.0 connect to the Internet even when I'm not browsing? CallingID LinkAdvisor 2.0 runs multiple tests on all links to make sure they're safe. Most of these tests are done by our servers but some of the testing must be done from your computer to ensure that the connection is not being spoofed or redirected, to insure your privacy and the best possible response time even at times the network may be bogged down. Yes, updated blacklists are periodically uploaded to ensure responsive protection. These are very small files unlike virus signatures.
Why is the site I see in the address bar different from the site I am visiting? The site in the address bar reflects the site that you will be sending the information to. This ensures that you don't inadvertently send information to a site that you did not intend to.
How does CallingID's approach differ from other security products? CallingID protects you from your (user-centric) perspective rather than a website (server-centric) perspective. The traditional approach tests websites and ships blacklists to each desktop user. This approach has several major problems: the sites tested may not be the ones that you want to visit; the information about the high risk site may not yet have been downloaded to your PC and you have no assurance that the computer is really following the link that is visible.
Unlike the traditional approach, CallingID uniquely provides real-time user centric testing, rather than limiting to server-centric testing. To achieve this, CallingID pioneered a SaaS approach in which the user's computer sends the link information to a CallingID Data Center in the cloud and CallingID's search and verification engines confirm the site information including its status on any blacklists, as well as, in parallel, testing the link path from the user's desktop to confirm that the link is what it appear to be.
In recap, you can be more confident using, providing information and buying products and services on the Web because the information that you need to make a decision is there when you need it. Unlike other anti-phishing products, CallingID LinkAdvisor 2.0 focuses on phishing site identification, identifys sites safe for business, ensures that the site you are visiting is the site you intended and protects you from sending passwords and personal data to high risk sites.
